Job profit calculator
See what a finished job really earned after labour, materials and other costs, so you know which work pays.
Enter what you billed and what the job cost.
How it works
- Labour = hours × labour cost per hour
- Total cost = labour + materials + other costs
- Profit = amount billed − total cost; margin = profit ÷ billed
Worked example. Billed 1,200 with 10 hours at 28, 350 of materials and 60 of other costs: costs are 690, profit is 510 and the margin is 42.5%.
Common questions
Is job profit the same as net profit?
No. It excludes overheads, which must be covered from the profit of all your jobs.
Should I include my own time?
Yes, at a fair hourly cost. Otherwise a job can look profitable only because you worked for free.
Can BusinessPilotOS do this automatically?
Yes. Profit is calculated from the invoiced subtotal minus expenses linked to the job, and it says so when there is no invoice yet.
